Meet Connor Kelly

Connor has been part of Trading MasterClass for 2+ years now, and over that period of time, he impressed the TMC Team so much with his commitment to trading (and his consistent engagement in the club) that he was presented with the Diamond Scholarship Award in December 2021. Connor used this scholarship to his full advantage and has since quit his 9-5 job to trade full-time! We are extremely proud of Connor, and are grateful to have his presence in Trading MasterClass. When did your trading journey first begin?

5+ years ago though with no structure, no real mentorship or commitment on my behalf. Full of the on/off cycle of going between the rat race and living for the weekend and then trying to escape the 9-5 grind, which many of us are so familiar with. It was not until I made the conscious decision to join Trading MasterClass had I flipped that switch permanently.

What was it that made you want to pursue trading?

Shortly before I started working within the financial industry a friend introduced me to the markets, trading the famous Binary Options. The excitement that came from this made me want to know what I was doing rather than pressing buy and sell for no known reason, this led me to finding out about the FX industry.

What is something unexpected that you love about trading?

It would have to be the mental improvements you HAVE to make. The way you must un-train your mind from behaving in its natural way when you are exposed to risk, profits, and loss in order to perform consistently.

What advice would you give to an inspired, driven individual about to step into the trading world?

Structure your day. Work backwards from your goal and define daily, weekly tasks which if performed will equate to your larger goal. This way you can just concentrate on showing up every day and winning the day!

This will take off the pressure of the much larger goal. The daily tasks are accomplishable to you right now, you will get daily wins by completing your scheduled tasks and daily satisfaction unlike when you only have the future goal in mind which can have the opposite effect at times when it seems far away still after long periods.

I also advise you to ask plenty of questions and don’t be afraid to sound the fool. If you are paying for a service, make the most of it. This is about you! We all do it and shy away at times but remind yourself, it is a service for you!

What new belief, behaviour, or habit has helped you gain the most forward momentum since becoming a trader?

“Win the day”

I got this from another TMC interview some time ago and it influenced me heavily when I needed it. I explained the process above, so I hope it helps!

How has Trading MasterClass assisted your evolution?

I would not be full time trading if not for TMC. It gave me the experience of consistency, a real set of strategies to work from, and while improvement was still needed it showed me this is possible. It’s not just something you see others living online! I was able to back myself and with the influence of Irek and Jakub this year I took the step to make full-time trading happen sooner rather than later.

When you’re experiencing chaos, struggling with your performance, or are in draw down, what do you do?

I do not trade when feeling chaotic, even if an opportunity appears to be there usually I'm missing something which you find later when you have clarity. I have a list of notes/links to provide motivation or calm which I save along the way when I find something I like.

What is your most memorable trade to date? Why?

CADCHF ABO July 2021 – I banked a monthly salary from a single trade!

What is your next immediate trading goal?

Capital growth and continue to build on and improve my daily rituals. Constant execution of daily rituals.

Any final words of wisdom?

Like I said before, make the most of the community and service you pay to be a part of. Nobody is going to do this for you. There are some real hardworking genuine people around here, that can offer you help if you need to know something and later also provide you with their good influence once you see what they are achieving.
